Community Organizations At Goodwill we take a whole-family approach to service delivery. We believe that assisting the individual towards self-sufficiency, not only enriches the family, but also strengthens the community. Often times, the ability to maintain employment is based on influences outside of the work environment, such as transportation, child care, housing and health issues. Beyond issues that may negatively impact the ability to find and maintain employment, families must also have access to the resources and support services that address areas such as financial literacy, money management, and mentoring. Building relationships with other community organizations allows Goodwill to develop innovative employment strategies that connect families with the services and resources necessary to overcome barriers to economic and social success. HRSDC The Goodwill Employment Action Centre is operated by Goodwill industries and funded by Human Resources Development Canada. Participants can gain skills in a variety of job areas as they move towards competitive employment. Successful community placement opportunities can also lead to more effective resumes and references for employers. Skills Training Ontario Works can help open the door to the skills needed for today's job market – training for a specific job, on-the-job or co-op training, special skills programs or special certificate courses. Goodwill has partnered with the Ontario Works programs in both Lambton and Kent Counties to deliver skills training that leads to jobs. Current programs include Cash Register Training, Customer Service Training and Janitorial Training. Rotary Club of Sarnia The Goodwill Bursary Award is made possible by a grant from the Rotary Club of Sarnia, that covers the cost of Cash Registery Training for individuals who otherwise could not afford to pay for this training.
